Treatment: Rehabilitation and Aqua Therapy

"I sustained a serious knee injury prior to signing for Warwickshire County Cricket Club. Under the guidance of Gerhard, I am undergoing an intense treatment and rehabilitation programme based in the gym. This was further accelerated by Aqua Therapy sessions conducted by Alan Smith. I progressed from the pool to the underwater treadmill followed by the Alter G (Anti-gravity) treadmill and finished with outdoor running activities. The Aqua Therapy allowed me to move my knee and carry out running activities with reduced load and weight bearing on the joint. This was crucial in reducing the swelling and increased the range of movement in my knee without aggravating my symptoms. I believe this was a great help in enabling me to progress quicker than expected." - Ollie Stone, Warwickshire CCC
Patient working on knee joint range of motion without loading the knee. This further helps to strengthen important core and lower limb muscles and maintaining his cardiovascular fitness.
After achieving full knee range of movement in the pool. The patient is now able to progress to running on the underwater treadmill at a depth of 3 feet and at a speed of around 5 km/h with no discomfort. The benefits of this is to give the patient confidence to progress to running on land.
